Medemblik was a traditional fisherman town and had a harbor to the open sea. The location at the harbor entrance had lights since 1641 (first wood quadpod with candles and oil, then in 1909 iron skeletal with oil and gas and finally electric light in 1950). The current light was built in 2005 and has similarities with the 1641 light, but with a modern lantern at 16m with character Oc.W5s range 8 nm. Some websites call the light a replica, but it is actually a free design by the architect. Application #147 by PA3HHT.
