| This photo was taken from the "Castello Aragonese" the town castle on the top of the hill surrounding the harbour of Ortona. I went here for the Strange Radio Event 2009 week-end, to activate (transmit from) this Castle for the DCI - Italian Castles Award (Ref. DCI-CH029) and so gave also the Reference ITA-108 for the ARLHS award , also from other Ortona's castle DCI-CH063, being within 1000m radius from the Lighthouse. It has been on October 10th, 18th, and 22nd, 2009. Calls have been II2SRT/6 (special call) and my own I2JJR/6 . On October 11th I transmitted as II2SRT/6 from another castle and another Lighthouse, the ARLHS ITA-138 , see there. Working conditions: 9m long fishing rod antenna, with some radials and counterpoises, tuned by AH4 at its base, IC7000 rig running phone SSB at 50-70W and a car battery, 12V 60Ah . Mostly bad weather. |
