This historic lighthouse is now owned by the Delta County Historical Society. It is open to visitors during the summer, and for special occasions including an Open House during the Christmas holidays. This lighthouse was near the end of Sand Point, until the harbor was built, extending sand point on an existing sandbar, and building upon the south-eastern sandbar to create an all weather harbor for recreational boats.

The fresnel lens is not the original, but was relocated from Poverty Island lighthouse.

Note, the co-ordinates for this lighthouse are 45 44' 61"N and 87 2' 40.8"W.

Added to the World List of Lights May 25, 2009.
