| In this lighthouse, the the Union of Amateur Radio of the Azores, set a multi operator, multiband, multi mode operation. Contendas belongs to the proud Portuguese Navy. It waqs built in 1934. The light warns navigators on the danger an islet offers. The little islet, called Ilhéu das Formigas or Ilhéu das Cabras (Goat islet in English), is a true wonder. The light house is neetly kept, and the Navy troop that keeps it, always welcomes visitors with awesome hospitality. |
